Description
Despite the number of LGBTQ+ Christians serving faithfully in churches across the country, zero out of eight historically Black Christian denominations are theologically affirming of LGBTQ+ Christians. How do we begin to bridge the gap between the Black Church and the LGBTQ+ community? How can Black churches better serve the LGBTQ+ community? How do we invite pastors and congregations on the periphery of affirmation into the movement for LGBTQ+ equity? Join us as Pride in the Pews hosts an in-person conversation to explore these questions with Black faith leaders, theologians, and activists from across the City of Chicago! Panelists Bishop Keith McQueen - Overseer and Founder of Powerhouse Church Global Channyn Parker - Director of Strategic Partnerships at Howard Brown Health Pastor Stephen Thurston II - Executive Pastor at Salem Baptist Church, House of Hope Rev.
