Band Beyond Description Crazy Horse Presents Ages 21+ If the Grateful Dead is your religion, then the Crazy Horse is your church when Third Thursday rolls around. Every month Jonny Mojo (Achilles Wheel) and Gary Campus (Deadbeats) assemble a cast of the finest musicians from around the region to conjure lightning in a bottle. BBD is a gathering point for everyone who wants to plug into the feeling of what it was like going to a Dead show. The music that bubbles forth from these nights captures the spontaneous, explosive, freewheeling spirit that so many of us cherish. We’re hopping in the wayback machine back to this date in 1974 at the Hollywood Bowl. The boys were in their ultimate prime, navigating the cosmos with otherworldly agility. We’ve got a knockout quartet for the occasion with a BBD favorite Matt Hartle (China Cats) on guitar and vocals. He and Jonny have long since achieved a mind-meld which never fails to make their collaborations launch into uncharted frontiers. One of our all-around favorite musicians and irresistibly funky, melodic bassists – Justin Purtill (Stu Allen & Mars Hotel) is just the man you’d want to do justice to ‘74 Lesh. And he’s got a beautiful voice too which will be put to extensive use on this dreamy setlist.
