Composting Workshop at Urban Garden Center

Entrance to the Urban Garden Center (UGC) is limited to workshop registered guests only. Please carpool when possible. Entry gate will open at 8:15 am. At 8:30 am & 10:30 am Bucket Composting demonstrations by Master Gardener Bonnie McCann. This outdoor demonstration will show how to make a bucket composting system, how to install, what to put into your compost bucket, and how to harvest completed compost. Fee: $3 - $7 per participant. Participants are welcome to take a guided tour of the Honolulu Rose Society gardens (20 min) at 9:30 am or 10:00 am. Closed toe shoes required. For the safety of our guests, only guided tours are available. The rest of the gardens are closed to self-tours. Got a plant question booth and Coconut Rhinoceros Beetle (CRB) display onsite. Learn why bucket composting is CRB-safe. All guests must sign a UGC consent waiver at the registration area upon arrival. If you are unable to attend your reserved date/time, please cancel your reservation in advance and at least 24 hours prior to your reservation by emailing [email protected]. This will allow others a chance to enjoy the gardens. UGC Guidelines: No entry will be allowed without guest registration on Eventbrite.Hours of event admittance from 8:15 am to 11:30 am. The restrooms will be open during the event hours.Bring drinking water and snacks if desired. Food will not be for sale. Wear appropriate outdoor attire: closed toe shoes and a hat.No pets are allowed. UGC follows UH COVID-19 policies and requires that face masks be worn in any indoor areas. Face masks are optional outdoors and UH encourages the practice of social distancing and strongly recommends that participants stay home when feeling ill, whether with COVID-19 or other illness, to recover and prevent community spread. If anyone tested positive for COVID-19, they should stay home and isolate for at least 5 days; and face masks must be worn around others in all settings, for the remainder of the 10-day period.
