You have a Carry Permit, but do you know what to do if confronted with a deadly force situation?  This course is your first step to gaining the skill, confidence, and mindset needed to survive such an event. Carry for Life© I is a practical self-defense handgun course that will introduce you to the Fundamentals of Firearms Safety, along with the skills necessary to handle a revolver and or semi-automatic pistol. You will learn what a handgun will do, what it won't do, and why it works the way it works. The hands-on training will start with Proper Stance and Grip, Sight Alignment, Sight Picture, and Trigger Control. Next, the element of shooter movement will be introduced.  Here you will learn proper techniques for moving forward, laterally, and backward to make room between an attacker and oneself while firing on the target and making tactical reloads on the move. The goal is to make it harder to hit by moving while simultaneously improving the chances of stopping a threat with solid hits.  After this course, you will have a fundamental understanding of the handgun's defensive use. Among the many skills covered will be the ability to safely and efficiently draw your weapon from the holster and fire sighted shots to the center of a target 5 yards away while moving. Your goal will be to learn how to hit one or more targets while making yourself a very uncooperative target. Lecture Topics Refresher on firearms and range safety, holsters, the use of deadly force, mental awareness, and civil liability. Why movement is essential to survival, the tendency to freeze in place, situational awareness, knowing when to move, and where to move to. Firing Range Loading and unloading, grip, stance, sight picture, sight alignment, trigger control, handgun presentation from the ready and holstered positions. Additional topics include target engagement from arms-length to 15 yards, malfunction clearing, speed, and tactical reloading.  Take home drills.  PrerequisiteYou must have a Tennessee Handgun Carry Permit, NRA Basic Pistol Course, or other approved training. What happens if I register for a class and ultimately cannot attend? You may transfer your seat to another person. Because this is a small class, we cannot allow refunds.  If you cannot make it to this class, send someone in your place. Or if you call us five (7) days before class and a waitlisted person buys your slot, we will transfer your ticket to another course. If no one fills your space, we cannot refund your class tuition. What is the REFUND POLICY? Class fees/tickets for Carry For Life© classes are NON-refundable because the class is limited to only five students, and refunds would mean the course would be too small to hold. The name on the registration/ticket doesn't match the attendee. Is that okay? No, because we would not know who is in attendance. However, if someone has given you their ticket, please contact us to adjust our records. There is a small $15 service charge for transferring a ticket to another person. I missed my class. May I get a refund? We count on every seat being filled.  Thus, we do not offer refunds (see Refund Policy above).  The instructor must be paid even if you are unable to attend. What if I am LATE to class? It would be best to arrive about 15 minutes early (before the course). Classes start PROMPTLY at the scheduled start time. Because late arrivals may disrupt the class, you may be prohibited from entering the classroom until the first break, which could jeopardize your successful completion of the course. PLEASE allow sufficient travel time. CLASS MAY BE CANCELED DUE TO LOW REGISTRATION.  SHOULD THIS HAPPEN, WE WILL RESCHEDULE YOU TO ANOTHER CLASS AT NO CHARGE.
