Join poet Susan Niz in a 2-day 4-hour intensive generative poetry workshop inspired by the practices of Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Jericho Brown. Susan spent 8 hours in a small group workshop with Jericho at the Lighthouse Lit Fest lit in Denver this June. The workshop was designed to jumpstart one’s practice and offer exercises that can be replicated on one’s own. In the workshop, we’ll unravel a published poem and build our own, we’ll approach freewrite in a structured way, we’ll build images and word pairs into lines, and we’ll write a duplex, the poetic form that Jericho Brown invented. The workshop is for practicing poets (we’ll call it intermediate to advanced) for the reason that you need a body of poem drafts to draw from. This is an inclusive workshop.
