Medford Mayor Appoints New Veterans' Services Director

MEDFORD, MA — Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn has appointed Jeremy David Johns as Medford's newest Veterans' Services Director. Johns had been working for the U.S. Department of Veteran's Affairs before joining the City of Medford. The open position was posted publicly as of March 27. "Medford has a large and dynamic veteran population that only continues to grow," Lungo-Koehn said in a statement. "Having someone with Jeremy's level of expertise and passion for supporting veterans' needs and causes is incredibly valuable. I am thrilled that he will be joining our team and will get to work helping our veterans get the resources they need. Thank you to City Councilor Rick Caraviello for lending his insights and guidance during the hiring process." The Veterans' Services office connects all veterans with critical resources, information, and contacts to help them acclimate to civilian life and beyond. Medford is home to over 1,000 veterans. As the head of department, the Veterans' Service Director is responsible for planning, organizing and carrying out programs to meet the economic and medical needs of veterans and their families. "Our veterans deserve a community like Medford that supports and advocates for their diverse needs," Johns said in a statement. "I thank Mayor Lungo-Koehn for this opportunity to continue working with our veterans to provide the highest level of service and care possible."
