FALLS CHURCH, VA — City of Alexandria voters will head to the polls this upcoming Tuesday t0 vote in the 8th congressional district Democratic primary. Incumbent Rep. Don Beyer is seeking reelection in the November congressional midterms. First, Beyer will face primary challenger Victoria Virasingh, a former technology industry employee. The Republican candidate chosen in a convention is Karina Lipsman, a refugee from Ukraine who became a U.S. citizen. The 8th congressional district includes the entire City of Falls Church, Arlington County, City of Alexandria and part of Fairfax County. Because the district is largely blue, it is likely the Democratic primary winner will secure a victory in the November election. A sample ballot is available here. On Tuesday, voters can head to their assigned polling place to cast a ballot between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. To confirm your polling place, visit vote.elections.virginia.gov. Polling places in the City of Falls Church include: Ward 1: Oak Street Elementary School (formerly Thomas Jefferson Elementary), 601 South Oak StreetWard 2: Falls Green Apartments (formerly Oakwood Apartments), 501 Roosevelt BoulevardWard 3: Falls Church Community Center, 223 Little Falls StreetA map of the three wards is available here. An acceptable form of ID is required to vote in person, but it is no longer required to be a photo ID. Examples of accepted ID include a Virginia driver's license, DMV-issued ID, U.S. passport, current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck and more. For those voting early, the last day to vote will be Saturday. In-person early voting is available at the Voter Registration and Office of Elections (City Hall, 300 Park Avenue, center level, Suite 206) Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mail-in ballots must be returned by 7 p.m. on June 21, in person or postmarked by June 21 and received by noon on June 24. Ballots may also be dropped off at a secure drop box outside City Hall (300 Park Ave) by 7 p.m. on June 21. After polls close at 7 p.m., unofficial election results will be available on the Virginia Department of Elections website. Results will be certified in the following weeks.
