Press release from the New Orleans Fire Department: June 16, 2022 On Thursday, June 16, 2022, at 3:23 am, the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) responded to a report of fire in a three-story abandoned apartment complex located at 13667 Chef Menteur Hwy. When firefighters arrived on the scene at 3:28 a.m., they saw flames coming from an overgrown wooded area that was covering an abandoned apartment complex. The area was inaccessible which prompted the use of arial equipment and ladder trucks to bring the fire under control. Sixteen NOFD units carrying thirty-nine Fire Operations personnel were deployed to the scene of this fire. The fire was placed under control at 6:23 am. The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) and New Orleans Emergency Medical Services (NOEMS) assisted in mitigation of this incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
