Need help with solar for truck camper

Converting the back of my pick up via a camper shell for off grid trips. I am googling and you tubing myself to death trying to find info. I could buy a ready made battery power unit and solar panels but continually read that I can make more power with more reliable parts for less. If you are reading this and have experience or the knowledge to put together a system please reply to this post and let’s talk. I am mechanical but the theory of it all confuses me. Thanks. Chris.
