Hello Craigslisters,
I've got a 1979 VW Rabbit (MK1 Golf) that needs a new engine.
I am putting in an engine that is coming out of a new Jetta. I have all new parts for the car and it should take anywhere from 30-60 hours of work. I've already got the original motor and transmission almost all the way out. So you're starting from a near empty engine bay. Another 4 hours and thats out...within a day you could possibly have the new engine already in. The next day all connected up and possibly ready to go. Carbs have already been jetted for the car.
The engine going into the car is an ABA with R1 carbs. It is a super straightforward job with only a few wires, using the existing wiring harness and box.
I will supply tools, cherry picker and all parts. If you have more tools that doesn't hurt by any means.
There is an insane amount of information on this exact swap. Check out youtube.
Here is a link of a very useful thread:
Cash job - paid upon completion of the work.
