For those who may not know, there is a large colony of domesticated rabbits living in the Heritage Village Mobile Home park in Beaverton, OR. The colony was created by a former resident abandoning his pet bunnies in the park. Since the several years since then, the colony has gotten out of control. These rabbits are rapidly reproducing and inbreeding and their population is rising ever steadily. These poor rabbits are living in harsh outdoor conditions and are constantly being terrorized by the weather, larger animals both wild and domestic, and people. These are not wild rabbits adapted for outdoor living. They have a terrible quality of life and often die a cruel death. I have reached out to several local organizations including the Oregon Humane Society, Rabbit Advocates, and Washington County animal control and NOBODY has the resources to help these poor animals. I am hoping that I will be able to rally our community, gather resources, find foster and permanent homes for these bunnies and help this colony find the peace it needs. PLEASE consider helping.
