Description
Horse farm offers a heckuva deal to someone who has experience feeding horses, turning them in and out and cleaning stalls for 18 boarded horses. In exchange that person's horse receives a free dry stall. Stall is matted and includes industrial fan, automatic waterer, hay rack and lots of airy, outside visibility. Horse will be turned out daily in huge, green fields with other horses. Rider has access to large indoor and outdoor rings and hunter-jumper trainer. We need someone who can work the Saturday horse care shift. We need an extremely reliable, hard-working, physically fit person who lives in or within 5 miles of Accokeek, Md. (in PG county just south of Fort Washington along the Potomac River.) We need someone to arrive at 7:30 am each Saturday, feed 14 horses in their stalls and 4 horses who live outside. That person then checks water troughs to make sure they are clean and half-full, throws hay to all the outside horses, puts the stalled horses in the pastures and cleans 14 stalls. That shift is a total of 4 hours. We need that same person to return to the farm before dusk, feed the horses, bring in the 14 boarded horses (checking for missing shoes or cuts on the way in) and making sure all the automatic waterers are functioning, then throw the horses a lot of hay, and blanket them occasionally if necessary. That shift is 1.5 hours. Stall is suitable for a horse up to 15'3" or 16' in height. There is extra money to be made at the farm repairing a Kubota tractor and/or a Ford truck. PLEASE DO NOT APPLY if you don't get up early, are liable to run into conflicts or fail to show up at the farm, or cannot commit to work weekends. We want a one-year commitment from a drug-free/alcohol-free, reliable individual who loves horses and farm work. Please text farm owner reply via Craigslist email. And thank you for reading this ad.
