Description
In June 2021, just before his 13th birthday, Blake started struggling with shortness of breath. Within a week, it became increasingly worse. A trip to the ER delivered some devastating news. He was found to have a large chest mass (the size of a grapefruit) in the center of his chest, and his right lung had completely collapsed. We were given the diagnosis of t cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia shortly after. Blake has been through so much in the past 13 months of treatment. To list a few: chest tube placement, multiple bone marrow biopsies and spinal taps, neuropathy, methotrexate toxicity which caused momentary loss of feeling in one arm and both legs, and c-diff just to name a few. He is now in the maintenance phase of treatment and will continue that for another 2 and a half years. Blake has been very courageous thus far and has never lost focus on beating this battle no matter what difficulties he may face. His strength is truly inspiring
