Independent Contractor needed for local garden installations and maintenance. Must have prior industry experience. Hey There! We are a small local team of independent landscapers and gardeners seeking a small team of 2 to work part time on your own 2-3 days a week, now through end of October. We offer regular work such as plant and softscape installations + regular maintenance. MUST LOVE PLANTS, WORK HARD, BE SELF MOTIVATED + DIRECTED, + SUPPORT ORGANIC METHODS. • GARDEN MAINTENANCE If you join this team: We'll provide you with a handful of properties and you will maintain them twice a month. You'll be doing the same properties every other week. • SOFTSCAPE INSTALLATIONS If you join this team: We'll provide you and a small team (usually 2-3) with plants, shrubs, sometimes small trees, for you to dig and install over 1-3 days depending on the project. Team lead will stage and direct the aesthetic layout. Often it is YOU who will be the on site overseer for the remainder of the installation. Sometimes we use a design, sometimes we do not. We will also provide you with landscape materials such as mulch, soil, cobble, pea gravel, edging -- You will remove existing materials, grade the area, and install the new materials. This position is self-directed, relies heavily on your previous industry experience, is highly physically active, sustained over time, outdoors in all types of weather. You will bring and use various plants, tools, and materials in your car or truck and be organized enough to plan, monitor, and maintain the changing needs of a handful of properties. You will communicate effectively by phone and text with our team lead as needed. Keep receipts and records as needed. You are experienced enough to care for a handful of local gardens on your own, after an initial introduction. We'll get you started with everything you need to know and will provide tools and initial direction. Then you'll take it from there. Work on your own or with a team mate. You'll drive to 1-3 locations a day, 2-3 days a week. You'll bring your own lunch or take lunch in between. You'll communicate while on site as needed and take notes and pictures to monitor progress through the season. Bonus Experience: Do you have prior drip irrigation, landscape, or permaculture experience? You are committed, self-directed, positive, progressive, high vibe, detail orientated, take pride in your work, are respectful and enjoy what you do! Flexible schedule allows you to have your own life and still work reliably part time. Work on your own or on a team of 2, moving from project to project throughout the day. Work days are typically a half day (3-5hr) or a full day (8hr). This is not a gentle horticultural past-time, this is labor intensive work on a paid schedule with the benefit of learned wisdom and great comaraderie. Ideal for outdoor enthusiasts and independents who want to supplement their budget.Each project is unique! PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED. Basic knowledge of basic local plant species vs weeds is required. Tasks include (but are not limited to): -- Maintenance (Weeding, Trimming, Shaping, Bagging, Cleaning Up) -- Installations (Digging, Planting (flowers, shrubs, small trees), Transplanting, Cleaning Debris) -- Materials like carrying soil bags, or moving piles of soil with shovels and wheelbarrows, spreading mulch or small stones, laying weedmat, working with drip lines, etc. Please only apply if you love gardens and hard work, enjoy assisting, take direction well, are a mindful aware individual, are used to working independently, and can commit from now through end of Oct this season. -- Must have a working cell phone for text and a reliable data plan for continual scheduling and communication on the go. -- Must have reliable transportation. Bonus if you happen to have a work truck. -- Must have or be willing to buy a few necessary hand tools of trade: hand clippers, hori hand-trowel, long shears, and/or branch clippers, and shovel.
