Facility Maintenance Technician

Meatworks of Westport is seeking an independent contractor to provide weekly maintenance and on-call repair services to our equipment and facilities at our state-of-the-art animal processing facility in Westport. Our ideal candidate would be a jack-of-all trades that is highly skilled at troubleshooting and problem solving. Facility & Maintenance Responsibilities: -Monitors facility to ensure equipment conditions meet company guidelines and performs minor and routine maintenance activities throughout the facility to make certain everything is consistently in working order. -Responds to on-call needs for equipment repair within 48 hours. -Reports maintenance requirements, potential equipment failures and unsafe conditions to management. -Perform and document basic inspection and maintenance completed. Specific Duties Include: -Visit facility 1-2 times per week to perform assigned tasks, and perform maintenance to various meat processing equipment -Respond to maintenance and repair requests within 48 hours. -Survey buildings and repair mechanical systems to ensure they are consistent with health and safety standards -Perform maintenance of electrical systems (replace light bulbs and sockets, clean and repair circuit breaker panels etc.) -Assist in the setup of ventilation, refrigeration and other systems and conduct repairs when necessary -Maintain and repair plumbing and heating components -Perform manual repairs when necessary (fix locks, replace windows etc.) Qualifications: -High school diploma or equivalent qualification. -Certificate in HVAC, building maintenance technology, or a relevant field is preferred. -A minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role. -In-depth knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems. -Advanced understanding of general maintenance procedures and techniques. -Physically capable and available to work weekends, public holidays, and evenings. -Effective problem-solving abilities. -Excellent written and verbal communication skills. -Must be well-organized and have the ability to prioritize tasks This is a part-time, Contracted Position, 1099 Equivalent.
