Description
NORTH MERRICK, NY — Drivers should anticipate some late-night slowdowns on the south shore.
Beginning on Monday night, all eastbound lanes of Southern State Parkway will be closed from the Meadowbrook Parkway (Exit 22) to Wantagh Parkway (Exit 27), the state Department of Transportation said.
The pavement resurfacing project is scheduled to last up to four weeks, running nightly from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., weather permitting.
Signs will detour motorists on the northbound side of the Meadowbrook for two miles to Exit M5 (Hempstead Turnpike).
Drivers should plan for the delays and are urged to slow down in work zones. The DOT reminds that fines are doubled for speeding in those areas.
