VERNON, CT — A Stamford man has been charged in a voyeurism case involving children at a Stop & Shop store in Vernon police said. Vernon police released the details of the June 9 incident this week. At 1:45 p.m. that day, Vernon police were called to the store at 50 Windsorville Road. Staff members told officers that a man wearing an "orange traffic vest" entered the store and took several "up-skirt" and "up-the-shorts" photographs of young girls, according to an arrest report. The girls were "juvenile" in their ages, police said. Derrick Powell, 33, was then taken into custody and charged with voyeurism, rick of injury to a child and second-degree breach of peace, according to an arrest report. Powell's bond was initially set at $50,000 and at a Friday arrangement in Rockville Superior Court, he posted it, judicial system records show. Powell is due back in court on June 21, records show.
