Hamden Man Injured In Shooting: New Haven Police

NEW HAVEN, CT — A New Haven man was shot and killed Wednesday evening, and three others were injured in a separate shooting late Wednesday, police said. At 6:51 p.m. Wednesday, police received a call regarding a person shot on Starr Street, between Winchester Avenue and Newhall Street. Police found Anthony Oden, 49, of New Haven, had been shot. American Medical Response transported the victim to Yale New Haven Hospital where he later died, police said. The Bureau of Identification responded to the scene and collected ballistic evidence. Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit are leading the investigation. Also on Wednesday, in a separate shooting at 9:28 p.m. police received a Shotspotter alert of gunfire on Ferry Street, between Chatham Street and Limerick Street, police said. Police said they found a 32-year-old Hamden man and a 22-year-old New Haven man had been struck by gunfire. American Medical Response transported both victims to Yale New Haven Hospital where they were both treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police said. Yale New Haven Hospital reported a third victim, a 35-year-old New Haven man, had walked into the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. The Bureau of Identification responded to the scene and collected ballistic evidence. Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit are leading the investigation.
