MARBLEHEAD, MA — Marblehead voters will go to the polls in the annual town election on Tuesday. Here's what you need to know if you are headed to the polls. Who's running? The following races are contested. Select Board (Vote for no more than 2 candidates; 3-year term) Jackie Belf-Becker Moses Grader James Nye Erin Noonan Alexa Singer James Full Bret Murray School Committee (Vote for no more than 2 candidates; 3-year term) Sarah Fox Reece Dahlberg Alison Taylor Town Moderator (Vote for no more than 1 candidate; 1-year term) John Attridge Matthew Wolverton Cemetery Commission (Vote for no more than 1, 1-year term) Rose Ann Wheeler McCarthy Pam Peterson Board of Health Helaine Hazlett Thomas McMahon Municipal Light Commission Walter Homan Michael Hull Jean-Jacques Yarmoff There will also be two ballot initiatives: Question 1 Shall the town of Marblehead be allowed to be exempt from the provisions from proposition two and one-half, so-called, the amounts required to pay for the bond issued in order to pay the costs of a road and sidewalk repair program for the next five years, for the payment of all costs incidental and related thereto including engineering, the purchase and upgrade of technology in the town offices and school department and for the payment of all other costs incidental related into included engineering, design and installation for the roof reconstruction and major repairs on town and school buildings over the next five years, and for the payment of all other costs incidental and related thereto including engineering design and installation, and the construction of a salt shed and the replacement of boilers at the high school and for the payment of all other costs incidental and related thereto including engineering design and installation? Question 2 Shall the town of Marblehead be allowed to assess an additional $3,051,093 in real estate and personal property taxes for the purpose of the School Department Budget for which monies for this assessment will be used beginning July 1, 2022? Election Day voting Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Precinct 1 will vote at the Old Town House at One Market Square. Precincts 2 and 3 will vote at Abbot Hall on Washington Street. Precincts 4, 5 and 6 will vote at Judy and Gene Jacobi Community Center on Humphrey Street. If you are not sure what precinct you are in, visit the Secretary of State's website.
