FALLS CHURCH, VA — A suspect donning a Bugs Bunny "Space Jam" cap is believed to be connected to two thefts at restaurants, according to City of Falls Church Police. Surveillance video captured images of the suspect in two thefts at Falls Church businesses in February and June. Around 1:50 p.m. on June 9, police say the suspect stole a restaurant employee's purse at Tasty Dumpling in the 1100 block of West Broad Street. According to police, the suspect pretended he was going to the restroom, but crawled behind the cashier area when the two employees weren't looking. He went out the front door with a purse containing $1,500, according to police. The suspect was wearing a black baseball cap with Bugs Bunny on the front and the words "Space Jam" on the side along with black pants, a black graphic T-shirt, black shoes and white socks. The other incident happened around 5:30 p.m. at El Patron Bar & Grill in the 400 block of South Washington Street. Police say the suspect took around $2,000 from a case at the restaurant and went out the back door. The suspect was described as wearing the same Bugs Bunny cap as the June incident with a gray Nike hoodie, gray pants and gray shoes. The same suspect is believed to be involved in similar thefts in Prince William County, Alexandria, Fairfax County and Manassas.
