ABSECON, NJ - 12 passengers and a driver were injured Thursday after a car struck an NJ Transit bus in South Jersey, officials said.
The incident took place in Absecon near South Shore Road and Ohio Avenue just before 5:30 p.m., an NJ Transit spokesman told Patch. The bus was en route from Atlantic City to Lindenwold when it was struck by the vehicle.
Victims were taken to Shore Memorial, Atlantic Care Mainland, and Atlantic Care City Division, 6abc reported, with all individuals reporting non-life-threatening injuries. The condition of those in the car was not immediately clear, but a neighbor told 6abc that emergency responders had to cut passengers out of the car.
"It was really high impact," the bystander said.
Ohio Avenue remained closed from Shore Road to Station Avenue Thursday evening, the Press of Atlantic City reported, with eastbound traffic on Ohio Avenue diverted at Station toward Route 30. Shore Road was closed from Route 30 to East Illinois Avenue, the outlet reported.
Absecon police are currently investigating the crash, the NJ Transit spokesman told Patch.
