NEWARK, NJ — The Newark Board of Education has reached a deal on new contracts with a labor union that represents principals, vice principals and other supervisors, administrators announced Thursday.
According to a statement from the school board, the tentative agreement with the City Association of School Administrators (CASA) includes two contracts that span the 2020-21 through 2025-26 school years.
The contracts contain raises, although further details weren't included in the board's statement.
A ratification date is scheduled for Monday, the board said.
"It has been a long time in the making, and we are excited to present a contract to our members that is worthy of their consideration," CASA president Christine Taylor said.
"This is a contract that our school leaders have worked tirelessly for and that they deserve," Superintendent Roger León said.
"I am pleased that our school leaders are getting a settlement that is deserving of their contributions," Board President Dawn Haynes said.
