MADISON, NJ — Temperatures will approach 100 degrees in many parts of New Jersey on Friday, according to the National Weather Service. Therefore, a reminder that Madison Borough has three official cooling centers.
According to borough officials, the Madison Public Library, located at 39 Keep Street, is open today from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Madison Civic Center, located at 28 Walnut Street, is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., as is the Hartley Dodge Memorial Building, located at 50 Kings Road.
Everyone is welcome to use the cooling center, which has air conditioning and seating. The cooling center is primarily intended for the homeless, who do not have access to air conditioning and for whom being in extreme heat can be dangerous, if not fatal.
