Press release from Shreve Memorial Library: June 15, 2022 Shreve Memorial Library invites readers of all ages to discover "Oceans of Possibilities" during its 2022 Summer Reading Program. The Summer Reading Program offers fun programs for the entire family. Throughout the summer, everyone is encouraged to enjoy a variety of interactive nature programs inspired by the "Oceans of Possibilities" theme. Representatives from Walter B. Jacobs Memorial Nature Park and Steve's Snaketuary will visit Shreve Memorial Library branches throughout Caddo Parish, teaching library patrons about local wildlife and nature. The programs are free, and nature lovers of all ages are encouraged to attend. Walter B. Jacobs Memorial Nature Park will teach participants about life cycles using different life cycle toys, photos of plants, insects, and mammals, and some collections of actual insect eggs. Attendees will investigate them with a magnifying glass, see and touch different species of spider egg sacks, bird eggs, and place stages of different life cycles in correct order. A discussion of comparisons will follow, including a "Match the Babies with Moms" activity, along with storytime. Walter B. Jacobs Memorial Nature Park programs will take place at the following library branches listed below, at the designated times and dates. Friday, June 24 at 10:00 a.m. at the Higginbotham-Bryson Branch, 9359 Greenwood Road, GreenwoodWednesday, July 13 at 2:00 p.m. at the Rodessa Branch, 10093 Main Street, RodessaMonday, July 15 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hosston Branch, 15478 U.S Highway 71, Hosston Wednesday, July 20 at 4:00 p.m. at the Broadmoor Branch, 1212 Captain Shreve Drive Additionally, everyone is encouraged to get rid of their fear of snakes and learn all about the creatures with Steve's Snaketuary. Participants will learn why snakes are important and how fascinating and magnificent they are. This program aims to eliminate fear, and participants will love meeting live snake ambassadors.
