Here are the top three stories today in Charleston: North Charleston's Firefly Distillery will be hosting a BBQ competition to support ARC of the Lowcountry. The competition will be on Sep. 24 from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The event will likely draw about 4,000 barbecue lovers. The event will raise funds for the nonprofit that protects individuals with learning disabilities. (WTMA)The City of Charleston has opened a memorial garden at the Charleston County Public Library on Calhoun Street. The garden is meant to honor one of the victims of the 2015 Mother Emanuel AME Church shooting. Charleston remembers Jun. 18 as Susie Jackson Day in honor of the 87-year-old shooting victim. (fox28media.com)Airport crews have started to clean up after a fire that occurred in one of Charleston International Airport's parking lots on Thursday. Two vehicles erupted in flames around 11:30 a.m. on the second level of the parking structure. One firefighter was injured while responding to the fire and was taken to a local hospital for treatment by Charleston Emergency Medical Services.
