ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Under general supervision an employee running the asphalt plant will be working at a computer console to mix the asphalt then ultimately load it into trucks; they also have to deal with customer inquires. When the plant is not running the employee will perform any required maintenance. Employee responsibilities include keeping their work area clean and hazard free. Approximately 50 % of overall working hours would be spent in each position. LABORER SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE Performing general labor tasks to keep all areas of the asphalt plant open and clear of debris as well as perform general maintenance. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Although heavy lifting is not generally required frequent to constant shoveling is a major component of this position. Work is often performed on uneven footing, slippery surfaces and on catwalks/ladders. Much of the work is performed around large moving equipment and the laborer must be constantly aware of his surroundings. The laborer is also expected to do general maintenance and be able to operate small equipment such as skid steers or manlifts.
