Description

ORLAND PARK, IL — A man who was unloading voting equipment at the Orland Township Hall on Thursday was injured when a large crate containing the equipment fell on him, officials confirmed on Friday. A township spokeswoman said the township is aware of the incident, which took place around noon at the township hall. The spokesperson said that the man — whose name has not been released — was transported to a local hospital by Orland Township first responders and was in stable condition. However, the township said it could not provide further information since the voting equipment is transported to the site by Cook County elections officials. The Orland Township spokesperson said that the county retains a private company to move the equipment, but said no further information was available from the township. The township said officials were told by Cook County election officials that a report would be filed with the transportation company about the incident. A message sent to the Cook County Clerk's Office seeking further information about the incident was not immediately returned to Patch on Friday. This is a developing story. Patch will update the story as more information is provided.
