OAK LAWN, IL — Oak Lawn residents are seeing no signs of relief at the pump as gas prices in the area surged toward $6 per gallon Thursday.
In Oak Lawn, the cheapest gas Thursday was at Gulf, 9856 S. Cicero Ave., for $5.65, according to GasBuddy.
The average price of gas in Illinois was at about $5.54 per gallon Thursday, according to AAA. That's a 16 cent increase from last week and up a whopping 75 cents from a month ago.The average in Cook County was above the state average Thursday, sitting at about $5.96 per gallon.
The cheapest gas Thursday in Cook County was at Walmart, 17540 S. Halsted St., Homewood, selling for $5.39.
In Illinois, the cheapest gas can be found 45 miles outside of Carbondale in El Dorado, at $4.69.
