Description

Press release from the City of Roseville: June 16, 2022 Do Good Roseville is hosting its 5th Juneteenth event in Roseville. This year, the group is partnering with the City of Roseville and M Health Fairview. Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation on January 1, 1863, which gave freedom to all enslaved people in the rebelling states during the Civil War. However, this freedom did not reach enslaved Black people in Texas until two years later, on June 19, 1865. They were the last group of enslaved Black Americans to be informed of their freedom.
