OAKDALE, MN — An Oakdale man has admitted to playing a role in a multi-million dollar insurance fraud scheme.
Okwuchukwu E. Jidoefor, 38, pleaded guilty to one count of mail fraud in federal court.
Jidoefor took part in a scheme to defraud car insurance companies by recruiting patients, staging accidents, and receiving illegal kickbacks, authorities said. His role was a "runner," or someone who recruited people who had been in car accidents to attend treatments at co-conspirator clinics.
Those clinics included Healthcare Chiropractic, Meyer Injury Center, and Morrow Accident Rehabilitation Center.
Jidoefor was one of 26 people charged in the scheme that took part across several metro-area chiropractic practices, federal prosecutors said.
Of the 26 people, 24 of them have either pleaded guilty or been found guilty following a trial, officials said.
