BURR RIDGE, IL – A Burr Ridge committee on Monday plans to review a request for a 30-unit townhome development near a pond. A resident is encouraging residents to attend the meeting to express opposition. She called it the "last chance" to stop the development. The developer, David Schwartz of Northbrook-based Cornersite, is proposing six blocks with five units each. They are set to be 35 feet in height. The property in question is at 901 McClintock Drive. It would be just north of the building for Metro Infectious Disease Consultants. Metro owns the property in question, but Cornersite is the contract purchaser. The land is now vacant. In its findings of fact, the developer said, "After being marketed for office development on and off for 15 years with very little interest, it is reasonable to conclude that, without zoning variations, the property cannot yield a reasonable return for its current ownership." Cornersite said it expects to price the townhomes from $550,000 to $650,000. "Critically, this proposal would finally activate this long-vacant property and enhance the vitality of the surrounding area," the developer said. Resident Ellen Raymond is asking residents to attend the Plan Commission meeting. "This development may adversely affect your home values," Raymond said. "It will bring more traffic and noise to our quiet area. The development may create drainage issues and disturb the ecology of the site." The meeting is set for 7 p.m. Monday at the Burr Ridge Police Department, 7700 County Line Road. The commission makes recommendations. The Village Board has the final say.
