Press release from the Guilford County Government: 06/17/2022 The Guilford County Board of Commissioners announced Andrea Leslie-Fite as the new County Attorney on Thursday, June 16, 2022. Leslie-Fite joins Guilford County with more than 15 years' experience providing legal service to local governments in North Carolina. "We look forward to working with Ms. Leslie-Fite in Guilford County. She brings a lot of talent and experience to the position. Her knowledge of local North Carolina government practice and experience working with citizen boards on critical issues will be a tremendous benefit to Guilford County and our residents," Chairman of the Board Melvin "Skip" Alston said. Leslie-Fite most recently served as Shelby City Attorney. She has experience as both a litigator and advisor. Leslie-Fite is admitted to practice in North Carolina, the Western District of North Carolina, and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. She previously served as a Senior Assistant City Attorney for the City of Charlotte, focusing on Human Resources litigation, and advising various citizen boards on quasi-judicial procedures. She also previously served Assistant County Attorney for Cleveland County Government. "I am excited to join Guilford County as the new County Attorney and to bring my experience in North Carolina local governments to support the critical functions of the county," Leslie-Fite said. "Guilford County is an exciting, diverse, and growing community and it is an honor to have the opportunity to serve as County Attorney." Leslie-Fite is active in various legal and professional societies. She is a 2020 International Municipal Lawyers Association Fellow, a designation which recognizes local government attorneys who have demonstrated excellence in the field of local government law. Leslie-Fite earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies and Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Juris Doctor from North Carolina Central University School of Law.
