First, today's weather: Sunny; breezy in the p.m. High: 90 Low: 62. Here are the top five stories in Cumming today: Several arrests have been made in the metro Atlanta area for reckless driving and laying drag this past April, including a Cumming resident. Six people were arrested on charges related to illegal street racing in Woodstock. Islam Aslanov, 21 of Cumming, was charged with blocking an intersection, reckless driving, laying drag, reckless stunt driving, and concealing a tag. He was released on a $3,340 bond on Wednesday. (11Alive.com WXIA) GeorgiaGreen Brick Partners Inc. has been contracted to build a $400M mixed-use campus in Cumming. Green Brick, a homebuilding and land development firm, purchased 152 acres to develop a mixed-use campus at the site named Sawnee Village. The development will include 474 detached and attached homes, over 250 apartments, 220,000 square feet of senior housing, and office and retail space spanning 106,000 square feet. (REBusinessOnline) The Peach Belt Conference (PBC) has announced its 2022 PBC Softball Team of Academic Distinction. Six student-athletes from Georgia College have been named including senior Carlie Behan of Cumming. Behan achieved a 3.82 in her Marketing degree with the addition of an Economics minor. This is Behan's third honor in her athletic and academic career. (Effingham Herald)The owners of Rosati's Pizza, Jeni and Matt Smith, are planning on offering flavors from across America at their second restaurant, Homestead. This new restaurant will be located in Cumming City Center. "We're focusing on comfort foods from all across the U.S.," Matt said. "You'll see things like a pork tenderloin sandwich from the Midwest, barbecue brisket from Texas, shrimp and grits from South Carolina, and Philly cheesesteak from Philadelphia. I like to think of it as 'foods that built this country.'" (Forsyth County News)Lifeguards are on alert after the Swim Atlanta location near Post Road reported at least 20 children having a severe reaction to an excess of chlorine in the pool. "Parents that are concerned about what that level may be can always ask whoever is running that pool, the manager, the front desk, to know what those readings are," said Tasha Smith, aquatics unit manager at West Cobb Aquatic Center. "A lot of pool stores carry [tests to use in the water]; you can buy them online - it's just a standard pool kit. Very easy to get, very affordable. and they also make test strips," Smith continued.
