11th Annual Celebrate Literacy Day & Excellence in Literacy Leadership Award ReceptionThe annual celebration will occur on Wednesday, August 31, 6PM at the Lynn Museum, 590 Washington Street in Lynn.We are happy to announce that The REAL Program, Inc, Princess Guwor-Vonyeegar and Cynthia McCleary will receive the 2022 Excellence in Literacy Leadership Award. This distinguished recognition honors a nonprofit organization and two community leaders that demonstrate excellence in literacy leadership by going above and beyond to elevate, improve, promote, and increase access to literacy and higher education opportunities for members of the Lynn community and beyond. General admission ticket availability is limited for this event due to COVID-19 guidelines and regulations. This year, the proceeds of the Celebrate Literacy Day event will go to The REAL Program whose mission is to improve literacy in Lynn, Massachusetts. There are three vital initiatives for The REAL Program: Before Home/REALSTREAMFamily Literacy (including ESL)REAL Little Free Library®The REAL Little Free Library initiative gives free, diverse books to children and families. The goal is to deploy 250 REAL Little Free Libraries to Lynn neighborhoods where the community is encouraged to take a book and/or leave a book.
