This presentation will discuss and describe the lived experiences of uniformed military social workers who deployed in defense of our nation. These professionals joined and deployed for many of the same reasons as other soldiers. However, when they returned from war many of them found themselves wrestling with guilt, anxiety, frustrations, uncertainty, and indicators of what we now call moral injury. This presentation will describe the spiritual and psychological struggle that many uniformed military social workers grapple with after their combat experience
