Join us to explore how mediation advocacy can improve access to justice for underserved populations and decrease the overall expense of litigation and other barriers to justice. We will analyze how understanding equity, diversity, and inclusivity plays a vital role in providing competent mediation representation. The session will also provide attorneys with practical tips on mediation advocacy skills, including mediator selection, client preparation, drafting pre-mediation statements, effective client-centered mediation opening statements, use of the joint session, use of non-party witnesses, use of caucus, working with the mediator to generate movement, overcoming impasse, and drafting settlement agreements. 2 EDI credits pending.
