Hi,
I compose and play a few instruments. I mostly write on the guitar and piano, but drums is my first instrument. I am looking for a production partner that is *very* solid on the piano. Synths too, understanding pads and textures (adding strings and whatnot to multitracks).
*Influences: Aaron Parks, Liquid Tension/ Dream Theater, Porcupine Tree/ Steven Wilson, Peter Gabriel, Billy Joel, Dua Lipa, Spacehog, Soundgarden/Audioslave, Tigran Hamasyan, Avishai Cohen
I want to teach you my songs, you write out charts (or learn how to play them - whatever gets you to do good takes). and we build the sessions. You would hit the record button while I do drum takes, and we work together on the songs getting int the rest of the parts (guitar, bass, etc).
Much more important for you to be a good pianist/keys player than a good producer.
The style is rock, with mixes of jazz, prog, and hip hop in there. Knowing your theory is a must. (There are some borrowed chords, modal interchange, secondary dominants, flat5 subs, etc.) Knowing different voicing is a must.
I would want to teach you how I play the piano parts, but then you make them better with suggestions, we work them out, jam it with me on the drums, and then record the parts in my studio.
I have a 88 key graded hammer action keyboard going into a DAW with some nice sounds.
As this is my project, and youd come to me, I can pay (but not like full session rates - Im a working dad trying to get my creative juices out 1-2x a week).
I'd like to play 2x a week, once on Saturday (day, 3-4 hours) and on a weeknight/ afternoon.
I can pay $105/ session. I know its not a ton, but its what I can afford. And the music is really good, with some nice time signatures, (7/8, 12/8, 5/8, ) key changes, and cool melodies.
