TOWN OF SMITHTOWN, NY — Four people were arrested on Wednesday night in connection with selling e-liquid nicotine to minors at businesses in the Fourth Precinct, which largely covers the Town of Smithtown, Suffolk police said. Officers investigated the sale of e-liquid nicotine to minors during which numerous businesses were checked for compliance after members of the community issued complaints, police said. Four people were arrested and charged with the sale of e-liquid nicotine to persons under 21 years of age, police said: Zubair Mahamud, 25, of Ronkonkoma, employed at Barcode Hookah & Smoke Shop, at 2402 Ocean Ave., Ronkonkoma.David Pagan, 22, of Centereach, employed at Hookah City, at 2700 Middle Country Road, Lake Grove.Garett Ituarte, 22, of Northport, employed at Hash Convenience Store, at 60 Main St., Kings Park.Paula Engel-Dibartolo, 52, of Kings Park, employed at Speedway, at 152 Pulaski Road, Kings Park.The employees were issued field appearance tickets and are scheduled to appear in First District Court in Central Islip on July 5. Employees from these businesses all refused to sell e-liquid nicotine to a minor, according to police: Smoke Hub 4, at 278 Ronkonkoma Ave., RonkonkomaE-Smoke & Convenience, at 370 Ronkonkoma Ave., RonkonkomaSmoke Shop of Smithtown, at 6 E. Main St., SmithtownBP Gas Station, at 94 Pulaski Road, Kings Park.
