Description
Do you, or someone you know, want to gain experience serving with nonprofit conservation organizations on Cape Cod? There are currently three (3) openings for Land Stewardship Coordinators on the Cape! The 300 Committee Land Trust (Falmouth), Barnstable Land Trust (Barnstable), and Dennis Conservation Land Trust (Dennis) are all seeking individuals to join their teams from August 29, 2022 through July 28, 2023. These opportunities are provided by and supported through TerraCorps, an AmeriCorps program. Read below to learn about the position, and be sure to share this with anyone who might be interested! Before applying, ensure that you are able to commit to the full 11-month service term totaling a minimum of 1,700 hours of service, from August 29, 2022 through July 28, 2023. Take the time to consider in advance your ability to live on a pre-tax stipend of up to $18,500 over 25 bi-weekly pay periods ($740 per pay period). TerraCorps members are responsible for their own housing and must have access to reliable transportation. Position Description: Land Stewardship Coordinators Build the long-term capacity of their Service Sites by creating networks of volunteers to support hands-on stewardship of community lands. They organize, train, and collaborate with municipal boards, neighborhood and civic associations, community members, youth groups, and schools to care for, improve access to, and support the long-term resiliency and sustainable use of community lands. By providing training and organizing collaborative land-focused projects, they increase resources for community projects, demonstrate environmentally responsible land management, help individuals build skills, and nurture an inclusive sense of public ownership in the local landscape. LSCs generally spend roughly 60% of their time in the office and 40% in the field. TerraCorps Members engage with their supervisors to develop and carry out three or more capacity building projects over the course of the service year. Some of these projects will involve recruiting, training, and/or managing community volunteers. In short these are creative fun positions that help an individual gain experience in the conservation non-profit world of Land Trusts on Cape Cod!
