BOSTON — Whether it's among the 18,624 fans watching live at TD Garden, the 10,000 watching on the big screen at Fenway Park, or the hundreds of thousands watching at homes, bars and restaurants across New England, the Boston Celtics faithful will be tuning in Thursday night hoping that is not the final night of basketball for the season. Facing NBA Finals elimination entering Game 6 down 3-2 in their best-of-seven series against the Golden State Warriors, the Celtics say they are determined to win and force a deciding Game 7 in San Francisco Sunday night. "Do whatever it takes to win," Celtics forward Jayson Tatum told the media on Wednesday. "That can look different from game to game. But we won all those (previous playoff elimination) games. I felt like myself and everyone else did whatever it took. "That's the mindset that you have to have." The Celtics rallied from down 3-2 against the defending champion Milwaukee Bucks in the Eastern Conference semifinals and had to win a Game 7 on the road against the top-seeded Miami Heat in the East finals. Now, after losing two straight games for the first time these playoffs, Boston must rally again to keep their hopes for Banner 18 alive. "We know what's at stake," Celtics guard Jaylen Brown said. "All the motivation in the world to come out on our home floor and leave it all out there. "We haven't backed down from a challenge all season so we look at it as no different now." The city will hold an official "watch party" at Fenway Park with all tickets to the free event snatched up within hours on Wednesday. The Mendon Drive-In is also showing the game tonight with gates open at 7 p.m. and tip-off shortly after 9. "Free for Celtics fans. $500 for Warriors fans," the Drive-In quipped on its Facebook page Thursday. "Wear green." Those hoping to see history in person at TD Garden still face a steep price to get in on the secondary market — though not quite as steep as previous Finals games. According to Ace Ticket, balcony tickets for Thursday night are starting at $516 per ticket with VIP seats as high as $6,950 as of Thursday morning. "We are looking forward to Game 6," Brown said. "We are looking forward to coming out and getting a win, and forcing a Game 7. "We are not scared. We do not fear the Golden State Warriors. We want to come out and play the best version of basketball that we can. We know it's a good team over there. We know they've done it before. "But we have all the belief in ourselves." Here is the remaining schedule for the 2022 NBA Finals: Game 1 — Boston 120, at Golden State 108 Game 2 — At Golden State 107, Boston 88 Game 3 — At Boston 116, Golden State 100 Game 4 — Golden State 107, at Boston 97 Game 5 — at Golden State 104, Boston 94 Game 6 — Golden State at Boston, Thursday, June 16, 9 p.m. Game 7 (if necessary) — Boston at Golden State, Sunday, June 19, 8 p.m. (Scott Souza is a Patch field editor covering Beverly, Danvers, Marblehead, Peabody, Salem and Swampscott.
