BOSTON — A person is suffering from life-threatening injuries after a broad daylight shooting Wednesday afternoon in Boston's Dorchester neighborhood.
Police responded to the scene on Melville Avenue between Washington Street and Dorchester Avenue around 5:20 p.m. after receiving word of shots fired.
Multiple people were seen fleeing the area, and WCVB reported that a man and woman were put in handcuffs and taken away by police.
Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden also responded to the scene, speaking with reporters and neighbors, but did not go into detail about the shooting.
"Right in the center of Codman Square, another shooting in broad daylight with multiple shots fired," Hayden said. "All of these matters involve illegal guns, that's the problem. These are unlawful carrying of a firearm that's resulted in these problems."
Police have not yet released the name of the victim.
No additional information was immediately available.
