Description
Parades for All Occasions is here for all of your pop-up processional needs! Come visit our Library of Everyday and Extraordinary things. With the help of friends and strangers you can design the mini-parade of your dreams!! Using our selection of paper mache objects, and a little imagination, you’re sure to find* symbols for anything you wish to celebrate—be that fruit, friendship, or frivolity. *If not, you can always make a suggestion for the library’s ever-expanding archive of the quotidien. See below for scheduled appearances and keep your eyes peeled for surprise interventions throughout the first weekend of the festival. Workshop: 11:30- 1:30 at Theatre@37 Participants will each decide on an everyday object that they want to celebrate, or that symbolizes or represents something they value. We’ll illustrate those items on cardboard, cut them out, and give them color using oil pastels. Participants will also have the option of turning their cardboard object into a wearable mask. Participants will be encouraged to return for the parades at the Brewery to wear their masks or see their objects come to life in the 3:30 pm Parade. Workshop admission is $25 or Pay What You Can. Parade: 3:30 PM at Silver Lake Brewing Project Participants will choose colorful paper-mache objects from the Library of Everyday and Extraordinary Things and carry them high in the air as we process from the Silver Lake Brewing Project, down Main Street, and back! Gather at 3:30 pm to choose an object, discuss what we’re celebrating, and design our procession. Parades for All Occasions is a part of the 2022 New York State Puppet Festival in Perry, NY.
