WOODBRIDGE, VA — A 19-year-old man who was shot on Tuesday in Dale City's Cheshire Station has died, police said.
After the shooting, authorities originally said the man was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Detectives learned of the victim's death on Wednesday, according to a police report.
The police department identified the victim as David Madison Fowler III. He died as a result of injuries he suffered in the shooting.
No suspects have been identified and no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. The police department has not provided a description of the suspects, but detectives said they drove away in a light-colored vehicle.
The shooting occurred around 2 p.m. on Tuesday in the 4400 block of Cheshire Station Plaza. Investigators believe that the victim and an acquaintance agreed to meet three men to make a conduct a transaction.
During the encounter, one of the other men fired multiple gunshots which hit the victim in the upper body. The suspects then drove away in a light-colored vehicle before police arrived the scene.
Police officers and bystanders provided first aid until rescue personnel arrived and took the victim to the hospital.

Officers said they found cartridge casings and two firearms when they searched the area. No other injuries or property damage was reported.
The police department said the shooting does not appear to be random.
