GREENWICH, CT — Greenwich Road Runners recently announced a series of upcoming run events -- the first is scheduled for Friday, June 17, at Greenwich Point ahead of Father's Day. The flat 5K (3.1 miles) loops around Greenwich Point, partially on paved roads and partially on compacted trails all with spectacular views of the Long Island Sound. There will also be a one mile "fun run." Both races will start at 6 p.m. To sign up for upcoming events, click here. Two additional races are scheduled in July and early December (holiday fun run). The races will benefit local charitable organizations, the first being the Greenwich Parks and Recreation Foundation Youth Scholarship Fund. Greenwich Road Runners is a community-based running group started in 2015 by a small group of runners just looking for people to run with. The group has since blossomed into an over 75-member 501(c)(3) organization affiliated with the Road Runners Club of America. GRR's mission has always been to provide a fun community-based running organization for everyone from the first-time runner to the veteran marathoner. GRR now hosts multiple group runs a week throughout the Greenwich community and a special monthly run sponsored by Athleta starting at their storefront on Greenwich Avenue. GRR will launch a Summer Youth Track clinic through a partnership with the Greenwich Parks and Recreation department. The clinic is designed to introduce children to the basics of running with an emphasis on fun. For more information on Greenwich Road Runners, click here.
