Key Projects This position will be involved in a number of new capital improvement projects. We plan to create 1,886 units of affordable and market-rate housing on the site of the Desert Pines Golf Course (100 acres near Bonanza and Pecos roads.) The plan imagines a new mixed-use, mixed-income neighborhood providing opportunities for existing East Las Vegas residents to stay, invest and build wealth in the neighborhood. It will provide a mix of residential sale and lease options for a range of housing types and incomes and includes 130,000-square-feet of commercial space and 5.5 acres of mixed-use development. The College of Southern Nevada (CSN) is planning for a multi-phase East Training Center to anchor this new development and provide important workforce training for residents of the neighborhood and beyond. The East Training Center will consist of approximately 25,000 square feet (first phase) with opportunities to expand along Pecos Road towards I-515 and a potential future interchange. Shared surface parking will serve both the new training center and a community center with a soccer pitch. HUNDRED Plan in Action To Reinvest in the Historic Westside Las Vegas' Historic Westside is about to become the first neighborhood in the city to have a community-based, urban agriculture farming facility of this nature at James Gay III Park. The Historic Westside Farming Facility will establish a new, local food source in the Historic Westside in the city of Las Vegas. This facility will serve to tackle food insecurity rates in the neighborhood while addressing unemployment and building community wealth. The Historic Westside community has consistently struggled with reliable access to healthy food. As a food desert, Historic Westside residents experience 25.5 percent food insecurity – the highest in the Las Vegas valley. This will be a mixed-use project including residential, retail and more. Northwest Regional Park Planning The proposed Northwest Regional Park consists of 160 acres near Log Cabin Way and El Capitan Way. This position is located within our Public Works department. The department's goals are to provide sustainable and cost-effective infrastructure planning, design and construction management; wastewater and storm water management; and traffic control services to Las Vegas residents, businesses and visitors so they can enjoy a safe, healthy and livable community..
