Here are the top three stories in Charleston today: The Charleston Beer Fest will be returning in October 2022 at Riverfront Park. (WCBD News 2)The Charleston Police Department is currently mourning the loss of a retired mounted patrol horse named Marty. The horse served with the patrol from 2006 until its retirement in 2011 when the unit was disbanded. The patrol was re-established in April 2022 when funding was re-secured. (WCBD News 2)The City Of Charleston has opened public comment for the repair of Melton Peter Demetre Park Pier. The city wants input on the assistance of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The floating boardwalk system was severely damaged during recent flooding. FEMA is considering removing the pier from the flood zone to minimize future damage. The public comment period will end on Jun. 21.
