Description
AGUANGA, CA — A school bus and a black van collided early Thursday in Aguanga, severely injuring one person who was airlifted to a nearby hospital, according to reports. There were no children inside the bus and only the driver was inside the van at the time of the crash, Cal Fire / Riverside County Fire Department officials said.
At 6 a.m., the Cal Fire and California Highway Patrol officers responded to reports of the crash at Wilson Valley Road and Sage Road.
Firefighters used the jaws of life to help one of the drivers from the wreckage, Cal Fire spokesperson Rob Roseen told Patch.
That person suffered a broken right femur and was helicoptered to Inland Valley Hospital in Wildomar, while the other driver suffered only minor injuries and declined further treatment, according to CHP logs.
Though witnesses saw smoke rising from the crash scene, neither vehicle caught fire, Roseen said.
The roadway was reported cleared as of 9 a.m., and the crash is under investigation, according to CHP.
