MENDOTA HEIGHTS, MN — Former St. Thomas Academy student Jackson Carver announced Tuesday that he will play football at the University of Miami, turning down offers to play for Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Minnesota and Wisconsin and many other schools. He had scholarship offers from more dozens of Division I schools. Carver was a star in lacrosse and hockey during his time at St. Thomas Academy in Mendota Heights, but he left during his junior year to attend a military boarding school in Indiana after committing to play lacrosse at the University of Notre Dame, the Star Tribune reported. He joined the football team for his senior year and recorded 17 catches for 292 yards and three touchdowns, according to the report. Carver, who graduated in June, is set to attend Loomis Chaffee School in Connecticut before going to the University of Miami. Allen Trieu, a national recruiting analyst for 247 Sports, wrote that Carver has the "ideal frame and body type," while his "hockey and lacrosse backgrounds gave him a leg up on learning the game." Carver is listed as 6 feet, 6 inches tall and 220 pounds by Rivals. Click here to read the Star Tribune's full profile on Carver.
