Traffic Delays Expected Wednesday On LaGrange For Torch Run: Police

FRANKFORT, IL — Motorists on southbound LaGrange Road can expect delays Wednesday morning as the Frankfort Police Department participates in the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics, according to an alert from Frankfort PD. The run is expected to begin at approximately 10 a.m. at Lincolnway Lane at southbound LaGrange Road, according to Frankfort Police Chief Leanne Chelepis. The run will continue south on LaGrange Road to Laraway Road, where it is expected to conclude around noon. The Law Enforcement Torch Run benefits Special Olympic Illinois' athletes. The Law Enforcement Torch Run includes an annual state-wide relay conducted by officers representing every branch of law enforcement within the state, as well as federal departments. Approximately 3,000 officers carry the Flame of Hope nearly 1,500 miles, running through thousands of Illinois communities via 23 different routes to its final destination: the Opening Ceremony of the Special Olympics Illinois Summer Games in Normal June 17-19.
