ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving road rage, odometer fraud, DUI involving drugs, a stolen vehicle, a downed tree, catalytic converter thefts and trespassing. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports: Road rage Elizabeth Lara, 33, of Melrose Park, was arrested about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at County Line Road and Lake Street on a Cook County warrant and a charge of battery. She was involved in a road rage incident She was released on bond. Odometer fraud A person in the 600 block of West North Avenue told police Monday that a man sold him a white Toyota Tundra pickup truck that had its odometer rolled back. An investigation is pending. DUI (drugs) Jill Golowach, 58, of Elmhurst, was arrested about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 900 block of South York on charges of DUI (drugs) and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. She was released on bond. Stolen vehicle U-Haul, 671 W. North Ave., told police Monday that a suspect rented out a 2014 GMC Savanna box truck May 23 and has not returned it. Several attempts to contact the suspect have been unsuccessful. Tree down During the storm Monday evening, a parkway tree broke at the base and fell on a house in the 800 block of South Poplar Avenue. The forestry department was contacted to remove the tree. Converter thefts While in Chicago on an unrelated incident Wednesday, Elmhurst officers saw a Ford Explorer that had been reportedly involved in several catalytic converters thefts drive into a residential neighborhood. The suspect tried to enter a garage, but fled the area once officers attempted to make contact. A catalytic converter was stolen from a white 2012 Ford Edge overnight Wednesday at Elmhurst Firestone, 463 N. York St. A catalytic converter was stolen between 2 a.m. and 11 a.m. Wednesday from a white Ford F250 pickup truck at SpringHill Suites by Marriott. During the investigation, it was determined that converters were stolen from two other cars.A catalytic converter was stolen from a Comcast work van about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday at Elmhurst Frame & Alignment, 672 W. Lake St. It was at the business for service. Trespassing A man was seen trespassing about 11 a.m. Wednesday on the east side of the Elmhurst Chicago Stone building at 400 W. First St. It was the second time he had been seen on the property in the last week. The business asked for a no-trespass notice to be issued to the suspect. A message was left for the suspect to contact the police department. He was described as white, 6-foot-2, 275 pounds and wearing a Local 150 shirt. Fugitive driver An officer saw a white Infiniti M35 shortly before midnight Wednesday at Grand and Industrial. The officer reported the car as suspicious. Once the officer tried to make a stop, the driver sped away, last seen headed east on Interstate 290 from Lake. Warrant Christopher Binion, 42, of Berkeley, was arrested about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at York and Arthur on a Kane County warrant. He was released on bond. Driving violations Adrian Escalante, 19, of Cicero, was cited about 9 a.m. Tuesday in the 400 block of North York on charges of no valid driver's license and no front bumper. He was released on bond. Terrah White, 40, of Bellwood, was cited about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday at York and Lake on charges of obstructing identification, driving with a revoked license and disobeying a traffic control device. White was released on bond. Benito Canales, 28, of Maywood, was cited at 2 a.m. Wednesday at North and Interstate 290 on charges of driving with a suspended license, unlawful possession of marijuana by a driver, improper lighting and driving an uninsured vehicle. He was released on bond. Police report information is provided by local police departments. Charges are not evidence of guilt. They are a record of police actions on a given day, and people charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
